From time to time you hear preachers identify the Antichrist as this person or that. Usually, such preachers point to a political figure they don’t like. Others think the Antichrist will be some kind of supernatural monster. My own candidate for Antichrist is based on 35 years of ministry. I believe the Antichrist is any church that teaches judgment instead of grace, belief instead of compassion, and personal salvation instead of universal solidarity. What enemy from the netherworld could do as much damage to the gospel as the very vessel Jesus chose to spread his message? When it comes to betrayal, Judas had nothing on a church that replaces Jesus’ message of love with mere theology.
