Thanks for the small piece from Cesar Chavez. When he was spending time with the farm workers in the Valley I met him and went around with him (drove him actually) around the Valley. He was a wonderful human being. Shortly there after I went back to grad school in Austin and Jorge Lara
hired me to work with him as much as my school schedule would allow. Cesar was very timid about the things he wrote for others wrote under his name. He and Jorge worked together on most of
Cesar’s statements. Jorge would do the writing and I would proof it and make the necessary changes. This is ironic because old age has made it impossible for me to do much writing, especially any writing with zing. I didn’t get to spend a lot of time with Cesar but he would come to the Valley
regularly when were having an “action.” He was a humble and wonderful man, as you no doubt
already know.
