Several people have asked me to post when the verdict is announced later today. Janie told me she would call when she knew, but I imagine she’ll be bombarded by reporters at that point. If I find out I’ll put it here and on facebook. I teach a class today, so I may not hear right away. If anyone hears before that and is willing to do so, please feel free to post it on my facebook page.
If you are from the GLBT community, remember you are not the one on trial. The Presbyterian Church is deciding whether we really believe what Jesus taught. Jesus never mentioned homosexuality, but he often commanded us not to judge by the flesh. If “in Christ there is neither male nor female” then there cannot be gay or straight.
I hope the church does the right thing, but the humanity of any of God’s children is not on the line here.
