Senator Warren learned the lesson from NAFTA that secret trade deals make perfect Trojan horses for shady business dealings. The Trans-Pacific Partnership could affect the sovereignty of nations, intellectual property rights, an open internet and living wages at home and abroad. Warren is challenging the Obama administration to make the full text of the trade deal public. When the nominee for U.S. Trade Representative would not agree to that condition, Senator Warren responded:
“The American people have the right to know more about the negotiations that will have dramatic impact on the future of the American economy. I believe in transparency and democracy, and I think the U.S. Trade Representative should too.” -Elizabeth Warren
